Niki Grandics is a jewelry artist, sculptor, and metalsmith based out of San Diego, CA. She studied Applied Design with an emphasis in Jewelry and Metals at San Diego State and glassblowing at Palomar College in San Marcos as well as at workshops at Haystack and Penland School of Craft. Niki grew up in a Hungarian immigrant family and spent a lot of time growing up going back and forth between Hungary and Southern California. As a result of this constant shift and interaction of different cultures, she has always been interested in the way cultures, traditions, and histories interact, meshing together or clashing and causing tension, chaos, and misunderstanding. Through the use of blown glass elements, enamel, electroformed imagery, and systems of metal cold connections, she explores these interactions and the things that hold them together to create a cohesive whole.
